Sharon Rose Smith

Lewiston Morning Tribune Aug 31, 2018

Sharon Rose Smith quietly left our world and entered her eternally peaceful Sunday, Aug 26, 2018. She was 72. Everyone who knew Sharon knew a good time. She was playfully known as the life of the party. Sharon's passion in life was being a mother. She raised three children and adored them throughout her life.

Sharon was born in Arkansas and moved to Lewiston as a young child. She graduated a Lewiston Bengal in 1964.

She married her first husband, Phillip West, and they brought three children into their lives. They enjoyed everything Idaho outdoors had to offer in their time together.

She latter married Al Dent and they shared their passion for the outdoors, participating in Jeep racing activities around the Pacific Northwest. Al's job took Sharon and the kids to western Washington, where they resided in Shelton, Wash, near Puget Sound. She became a Volks Walker and walked through America in 1988.

Retirement in 2003 brought Al and Sharon back to the valley, where she resided in Clarkston after Al's death.

Sharon leaves behind her three children, Brian West, Kristin D'Ambrosio and Christopher West; two grandsons; three great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the banquet room at Ernie's Steakhouse, 2305 Nez Perce Drive, Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Helping Hands Rescue.

2004 Reunion News:

Past highlights: We have had the opportunity to travel these great United States. I have participated in the Walk America and the Volks-walk and walked in 15 states. What an experience. Al retired in 2001 and we threw out the clocks. In 2002 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and we had to buy new clocks. He is 2 years cancer free, but we recently learned his "good" lung is diseased and he is on oxygen most of the time. November 2003 we sold our home and bought a bigger motorhome and moved back to the area to be closer to the family and friends.

Future Plans: God willing, we will travel to the 17 remaining states and hopefully figure out how to mature gracefully.

Major highlights of the last 10 years: We moved t Western Washington in '87 and after getting over culture shock, became true Washatonian, whatever that means! We spend a lot of time racking up miles on I-5 (our kids live from Ft Lewis to Lewiston).
