Lewiston Morning Tribune Jan 4, 2019 Donald Gene Krug, 73, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, in Lewiston, with his daughter by his side.
Born Nov. 2, 1945, to Harvey and Rose Marie Krug in Coeur d’Alene, he and his family soon moved to Lewiston. Don grew up in the Lewiston Orchards with his sister, Cheryl. He graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1964.
He married Diana Leighton in 1967 in Boise. They resided in Lewiston, where he took on raising her son, Timmothy, as his own. In 1969, his daughter, Adonia, was born. This marriage ended in divorce in 1983.
He worked for many years doing what he loved — landscaping, where he developed a love for designing and working in his yard. He also had a talent for art and loved collecting antiques and unusual items.
He worked in lumber mills in the region, retiring from Potlatch Corp. in 2009. He was a tender-hearted man with a unique sense of humor. He loved to make you think and smile. He had a passion for all animals, wild or domesticated. He loved to bird watch and talk to the birds, helped by his knack for imitating their calls and whistles. He loved poetry, long walks, music and singing. I’m sure he loved singing as much as we loved listening to his incredible voice. He was an amazing man with so many talents he kept hidden away. He could quote lines from movies or poetry for any occasion. He loved to tinker and could repair anything.
Don is survived by his daughter, Adonia (Doni) Krug-Broyles, and her three children, Sierra, Connor and Serenity; Timm Leighton and his son, Erik; his sister, Cheryl Hubbard; and his close friend, Cherryl Ramsay.
A family celebration of life will be held in the spring, his favorite season, when he could start planting and enjoying his beautiful yard.

When asked to summarize what I have done during the ten years past, projections of mystical vistas entered my thoughts. An enclosure for spirits divine. Its glades are luminous with misplaced rays of childhood and hues of the soul. There are isles that fade into the perspective of solitude and darkened paths lead to the closed door of silence. Within this realm, I have wandered-nothing more.
