Darrell Dwayne Isble, 65, of Lewiston

Darrell passed away due to complications of diabetes at 5:14 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston. He was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Nampa, to Wilma and Irvin Isble Jr. Wilma and Irvin also had a daughter, Paula. This marriage ended in divorce.

Darrell attended school in Lapwai until sixth grade and then finished school in Lewiston.

Some of his fondest memories were hunting, camping, fishing and horseback riding with his stepdad Marvin Twogood. From the marriage between Darrell's mother and stepfather came a daughter, Cheryl.

On Feb. 14, 1963, at the age of 17, Darrell enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Texas, he married Mary White and they had a daughter Sheila Renee. The marriage ended in divorce.

He was then stationed on the USS Salisbury Sound AV-13 and served in the Vietnam Conflict, until the ship was decommissioned March 31, 1967. He then went to the Naval Air Station in Minneapolis until his discharge March 1, 1971.

In 1976, he married Marlyn (Marli) Kay Hendrickson. They lived in Vancouver, Wash., then Reno, Nev., where Darrell worked at Harrah's Casino as a coin counter and Marli as a Keno runner. They had a daughter, Sarah Jane. After two years they moved to Spokane and then back to Lewiston, where they made their home.

Darrell had more than 25 years in the trucking industry. During that time he trucked for Willis Shaw, Manke, Sutton Salvage, and the last 20 years were spent at Excel Transport. He then became disabled due to diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia and arthritis.

One of Darrell's passions was singing. Several years back he joined the Valley Singers at Gerontology Senior Center in Clarkston. They practiced on Saturdays, and would sing weekly at different nursing homes in the valley. The Valley Singers were his second family and he loved them all.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Oda Isble, grandmother Ina Gregory, stepfather Fred Hendrickson, half-brother Floyd Daniel McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, Marli; daughters Sarah at the family home in Lewiston, and Sheila in Texas; mother, Wilma Hendrickson of Clarkston; sisters, Paula Marie Light, Cheryl Jeannine and her husband Gary Bohnsack of Lewiston; siblings from his father's side: brothers, Dean S. and wife Shelly of North Carolina, Andrew J. and wife Karen, and Robert, George and Terry, all of Michigan; sisters, Laura J. Heisler, Mary M. Schmelter and Georgene M. Fritz, all of Michigan; and from the Texas area one niece, two nephews and six cousins.

At Darrell's request there will be no public funeral. Later this summer, when most of the family can be present, there will be a private family memorial to spread his ashes. He may now rest in peace - pain free.

Spouse: Marli since 3-22-1975
